The actual process of the creation of Israel is something that's rarely taught in American schools beyond "everyone felt bad about the Holocaust and gave the Jews Israel. The local Muslim population didn't like this for some reason and tried to destroy Israel, but were pushed back"

I guess my point is more that it's really easy for the narrative of "Israel is a great place for all people and the Arabs just don't want peace for some reason" (what I was taught as a young kid) flows very easily into "Muslims hate Israel because it's Jewish and Islam is an antisemitic religion"
