A convincing performance at the Emirates is to be cherished these days. And to top the experience, in the queue to the station after the game I overheard a Wigan fan tell another Wigan fan: "and we didn't concede any goals from set play". Classic.

Thomas Schelling died on this day in 2016. Had he continued to live he'd be about 104 now. Game theory was his thing and conflict and cooperation his primary focus. His writings made for a difficult read., but I enjoyed his 'The Strategy of Conflict'. He won the Nobel Prize in 2005.

Hans Singer would be 115 today. He provided the impetus for several key UN agencies, including the WFP. Architect of the Prebisch-Singer doctrine. He was at Bretton Woods with Keynes! Met him at Sussex U. whilst a Warwick grad student. Years later he wrote the foreword to my book with Mehmet Odekon.
