There is a systemic cause in Henry Nowak's death, but it's not the one the far right want you to believe.

The Real Systemic Outrage In The Henry Nowak CaseI wanted to think about Henry Nowak and his case before commenting. The conclusion I’ve come to is that this is about the same thing as the Rotherham grooming gangs, and the same thing as the trans prisoners ‘debate’. Please read to the end before commenting. Henry died pleading for his life and the systemic cause was not ‘anti-white racism’, it is that…graniteandsunlight.wordpress.com

It looks like it's time to dredge this one up again. This was written in response to a campaign asking for healthcare workers to be trained not to just assume abortion is the next step after a fetal test shows a disability. graniteandsunlight.wordpress.com/2019/03/23/a...

Abortion and Disability – Rights for AllThe campaign being led by Don’t Screen Us Out is essential, even though the politics surrounding abortion rights and disability are a bit complicated. I’m going to go into a wee bit of …graniteandsunlight.wordpress.com

Last week, local hotel-shouter Geoffrey Farquharson pled guilty to yelling Nazi slogan 1488 repeatedly (at me). He told the court he didn't know what it meant and he was ashamed now he did. His entire sm feed is Hitler fandom. He's not as famous as Platner, but Nazis typically pretend innocence.

CN: grief Going through some of Mum's books and have discovered a rabbithole that's making me think about a lot of things around poetry and I want more than anything to call her and ask about it. I know there must be stories and they're not ones I ever heard. I miss her.

The house is on the market. It's all suddenly very real. I've written so many poems about this place. It has always been Home. Keeping it is so far out of reach. And it deserves a family. The garden deserves kids to play in it again. We were so lucky.

After about 8 years of trying desperately to get people to believe fascism is here in Scotland and in the ascendant, and people confidently telling me it was impossible because this is Scotland, we are staring down the barrel of a fascist party being the second biggest party in Holyrood. 1/

Ah, decade-ago me. We were still in the crisis phase of a global plague the next time they rolled around. I was under siege, watching what we worked for be dragged away by proto-fascists. Screaming thst this wasn't an ordinary political disagreement and we had to DO something. ... 1/2

I saw a puffin! We were there at the wrong time to see lots of puffins but we saw one 🥰 Then we had a fish supper. Doug has much better puffin photos, obviously. Their call is adorable.

Here's my poem about the current state of things and the cost of fighting and why we do it anyway. It's a little different from my normal ones. youtu.be/ndne5XmWc0E?...

Andrew, the drug-fueled gamblers in a single square mile of the country who have destroyed us all are a vanishingly small fraction of the people who actually work in banks. Your average Bank Of Scotland teller would be fired for drinking at work.

TBF I don’t think MPs should be shooting up heroin at work either

I spoke to Billy at The Ferret about the misogyny of the far-right and the way they try to scare us out of protesting. In the last week, they've started posting and yelling about how they know where I live. They are just playground bullies who never grew up. www.theferret.scot/women-abused...

These women were abused by far right groups who claimed to want to protect them. But they fought backWomen have been leading the fight against the far right in Scotland but anti-racism activism has come at a high personal cost with at least 14 having been publicly abused and threatened. It is infuriating beyond words to have overwhelming feelings about too many things but not to have the energy to actually focus on them. Every time I start my body just smacks me back down.

Listening to how NASA and other agencies talk has been a stark demonstration of the difference between public good and private enterprise. The language has not been about conquest or personal glory but love, awe, international cooperation, and constant gratitude for all the steps before this one.

Eye test today. Yet another diagnosis that I look up and EDS is a major risk factor. I wonder what it would be like to have collagen instead of 20 year old dusty post-it note glue.

8 poems into #NaPoWriMo - usually I've missed a couple by now. Even barely awake I've written a few lines. So far politics, the moon, Iran, mum.

NaPoWriMo gives you the chance to write angry little poems about things you normally wouldn't bother putting into poetry 😂

Pigeon-rescuing hurts the legs and hips, it turns out, especially when you have to go monitor Nazis the next day instead of recovering. Hobbling about like, well, an injured pigeon tonight. Worth it.

Yes, a bunch of us did spend the best part of 45 minutes catching an injured pigeon to take to New Arc Wildlife Rescue. They said it would be OK with a bit of time to recover. Poor wee thing ❤️
