This is an extraordinary story, centred on a group of remarkable women, but it just makes me mourn for the millions of women and girls trapped in Afghanistan, denied not only the freedom to play sports, but to speak, learn and live as they choose. We must not forget them.

Is it him defending plagiarism/Jason Arday? How does Zack manage to be on the wrong side of every issue? It's wholly impressive.

The dimension of the Arday affair which is most disgraceful is his and/or the University of Cambridge’s use of lawfare, including calling the police, to silence a reputable journalist. Knowledge grows through criticism. This tarnishes the reputation of UK HE www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/08...

What I wonder about Jason Arday is is that his real name? Why has no-one come forward to say "I went to school with him - he never spoke", or more likely, "I went to school with him and he was really entertaining 'cos of all the scrapes he got into, but you couldn't believe a work he said"?

Jason Arday, who received media attention for becoming the youngest black professor ever at Cambridge in England, has recently come under scrutiny for allegedly fabricating his professional affiliations and plagiarizing his academic work. Now, another line on his résumé is in doubt.

What a deeply disappointing thing to wake up and read in the Cambridge University alumni magazine. It’s not that I disagree with absolutely everything it says, but the aims it sets out would be highly unlikely to be achieved by the methods proposed. www.alumni.cam.ac.uk/magazine/iss...

It was preposterous that amnesty characterised a trauma informed service to support women who have been subject to sexual and domestic violence as anti rights. There was an impact on service users and this shows an impact on staff. No wonder those involved were and remain so angry

If it was not possible & in fact easy to get people to believe stuff (esp. if they want to believe it, or think it's in their interests to), con man would not be the excellent profession it always has been.

(Blaming his supervisors is just bad taste. It's not the role of your PhD supervisor to teach you not to be a plagiarist). But part of the responsibility for this whole fiasco lies with the academic establishment. They hyped him up because they were just too eager to believe his fairytales. 2/2

This is pretty bad. Prof. Arday has built a web of lies from which he is unable to extricate himself. I am not even sure he realizes it: it's quite possible he believes them. That makes his predicament even more tragic. Of course, he is fully responsible for his academic misconduct. 1/2

I was a fan of Alan's; I bought one of his books. But he destroyed his credibility with me when he refused to acknowledge the threat from postmodernism. Those who failed to do due diligence on Jason Arday are responsible for Arday's fate & for gifting a propaganda bonanza to the right.

Arday case becoming a fascinating episode. First there were folks trying to dismiss/downplay the plagiarism because it came from a “race realist.” But now also clear other side was overly credulous of exaggerated claims of Arday’s fabulism/incompetence. Like the world is grifters all the way down.
