*nods* this helps a lot. cause I recognize I'm kinda too autistic for some of this shit. I tell people what's up right away, and expect them to do the same. apparently people don't..and...why even date then? *facedesk*
I wonder if the conflation and confusion is regarding "hey at least he was honest, the person I was with didn't even ask for consent" vs "This person crossed *a line* if not *the line* in terms of rape culture. Mind, I'm trying to make sure I'm understanding, not trying to argue both sides.
My thought process based on what I heard was that it was at least *discussed* on the first date, and she said "I don't know" at which time I kinda agree I'd have said "Oh that's unfortunate, we're incompatible in that way" and would have left (after paying the bill or whatever, obvs, not just dip)
that's absolutely fair. It would have been better to just say "hey we're not compatible. have a good one" instead of pushing.
Thank you for the clarification.
3️⃣I genuinely want someone at WotC to please stop and fucking think. this is gross and needs to be stopped. Whomever called for this needs to rethink and readjust. This is going to lead them down a path of either having to bow to fascists OR getting wrecked by both sides. 🔚
2️⃣This is already site unseen an own-goal because they cannot possibly win against the forces of nostalgia, *AND* the forces of fascism that want to destroy DnD just because it already is "too woke" they're fighting a battle on multiple fronts with Dark sun, period, and they don't even recognize.
Unlikely? but I'm also ok with no wanting to engage with Daggerheart in particular. It's not my vibe, but I love the game existing for people who *want* it.
Dark sun is the ur-text to this shit with deathbringer and whatever this dnd thing is. Literally a land of slavery, and grimdark b.s. I've played in that setting over the decades. It's just nothing but "EVERYTHIGN IS BAD FOREVER" I get so bored of that shit.
that's why you won't see me saying they're "Bad" Just not my personal taste. I want more crunch on my steak than that, ya know? Gimme that dark and barky crust.
Candela Obscura is a fun game, but I cannot see myself playing it for more than like..3 sessions OR being in some kinda actual play with it? and then being done with it for 10 years.
6️⃣I respect the creators of these games, and hope they succeed, just...elsewhere, far away from me. For me? I'm looking for games that feel hefty, mechanically elegant, and fun for long term, engaged campaigns. anything less than that is *NOT* worth my money. 🔚
5️⃣I'm not paying upwards of 50 (or 60!?) bucks for either:
1. a game that could be written on a goddamn napkin
2. a game that feels like once I've had whatever the intended experience was "Well, you can just do..that again" with no mechanical heft too it.
4️⃣I get that lotsa people want quick and simple games where you can "no thoughts just critical role" and go "YAY" and have a good time pretending to be a twitch streamer for a few hours a week, but like I'm genuinely looking for deep mechanically appealing games.
