This was my thought on reading the Guardian article today on e-scooter accidents (which mostly injure the riders, not people they collide with). There is now all sorts of handwringing about need for safety standards for e-scooters, but where's all the push to get child-killing SUV's off the road?

But it's not whataboutism to properly contextualize the risk, especially when we are seeing a moral panic that is not commensurate with the threat posed by e-micro mobility.
