This is a good point, actually. And it should remind us all that Donald Trump should already be spending the rest of his life in jail.

5 years was not enough. It has to deter others from attempting such a crime. You wanna try it, spend the next 15yrs behind bars. It’s just more white people getting lesser sentences no matter how you slice it. She’ll get out and get a high paid gig on newsmax. That’s the problem. She’ll be rewarded!

When Maddow showed the registered mail receipts from the fake electors scheme that had been sent I thought well that's it. Mail fraud. Wire fraud. Serious federal crimes. $250,000 fine attached to 20 years in jail. All of them got away with it. www.justsecurity.org/81939/timeli...

Agreed. The Judge also was right to confirm this was not a pardon and her crime will remain on the record.
This is a really stupid point, actually. bsky.app/profile/r5-t...
R5_to_philly / R5PhillyShe did assault police during her arrest and has not served 5-years She also showed no remorse
Crystal Mason, a black woman in Texas, was sentenced to 5 years in jail for the flimsiest possible “voter fraud” offense after casting a provisional ballot in the 24 election. She was actually eventually acquitted, but still… THAT sentence was INSANE. Tina Peters? She can eat a big ole bag of dicks.
“LIFE LONG prison sentences are for people who commit many crimes over decades including repeated violence against women and children and when they enjoy their crimes, it can be expected they will continue until they die” There Fixed it
Her sentence was eventually overturned, but I don't know how much of it she ended up serving (maybe all). www.texastribune.org/2024/03/28/t...

These are serious felonies. She could (Should) have gotten 20 years. She's a traitor to the US constitution and our democracy. She will have served only 2 years when paroled next month. She should have at least kept the 9 years (and been paroled ~4 years). coloradosun.com/2026/04/20/d...
I think when the target is the American electorate and the foundations of democracy a long sentence is appropriate. The problem here, though, is that she’s the sole scapegoat which makes it *seem* like CO is treating her unfairly compared to the federally pardoned (and soon to be rich) Jan 6-ers.
i.beNo, it's not. She did not cause physical harm. She caused serious financial harm to the state and county. And she is completely unrepentant. That prison sentence was a deterrent, the commutation is an invitation for more of this. www.pbs.org/newshour/pol...
