You know I made a ranged fighter the one time I did not DM a campaign. Turns out Fighters start looking like artillery when you build them right. Also the closest I can think of subclass wise for that is The Scout and the Arcane Trickster. So Yeah, your not wrong, a distinct lack of nature.
