NYT wanted to write a story about "moderate Dems go to war with DSA," looked around, and the best they could find was a *proposal* by Third Way to spend $15M against left candidates. The story is not evidence that *Democrats* and the left hate each other... it's evidence that the NYT hates both.

The article itself is fine, the headline is beyond ludicrous. One guy, spending a quarter of what centrists just flushed down the toilet in Michigan, isn't a "war" on socialism. It's a last gasp. The true headline? "Centrists are Blockbuster. Socialists are Netflix." But NYT is gonna NYT.

The New York times seems completely oblivious to the fact that the left right spectrum no longer exists. They continue to try to shoehorn everything into this no longer existing idea. I'm a Republican but I support socialists because they're the only capitalists left!

not a subscriber but got a free version to read the comments. They were universally hostile to the idea that so-called moderates are going to war against so-called far left when we are marching towards fascism. And the author ignored all of it, again tried to squish it into fake L/R spectrum.

Red Scares won't change the minds of anyone under 60. Young people have seen rapacious US capitalism with their own eyes. It leads to hopelessness, drug addiction, a few billionaires and a million homeless. They want a fairer system.

Third Way is explicitly NOT a Democratic Party group — THIRD WAY. They are positioned between Trump and the Dems. The framing of Third Way as Dems in Disarray is wrongheaded and reeks of animus to the actual Democratic Party position which has firmly aligned behind El Sayed.
