And yet there is a narrative that former empires (created by peaceful and benevolent means) did not know racism, slavery, antisemitism, sectarian violence, etc. before the United States brought all evil into the world and forced innocent other lands to sin. Who to believe!

Example: Christopher Columbus Did Not discover the now known as the United States of America. Rewriting history is a pollutant of future generations.

It's fascinating too when you learn about simple things, like how important apex predators are, how much space a buffalo needs, how natural fire control works, and realize it was all worked out so long ago.

2/ what it aspired to because white European colonizers said so. Still does as it has. In America, to be accepted is to aspirationally model what whiteness defines. No one ever asked the people whose lands they stole what they wanted. And yes, I understand “to the victor go the spoils”,
