Ashtrays used to be installed everywhere (and might be quite nasty if not clean). I went to a funeral at a midcentury funeral home last year & there were actually ashtrays installed in the women's room stalls. I had completely forgotten how deeply pervasive the enabling of smoking EVERYWHERE was.
