One of the claimed timings on Birdguides must be a long way out then - Bridled supposedly still on Inner Farne at 16.45, Sooty first seen Coquet at 16.37!

Neither of the timings are out both were correctly reported albeit the Bridled report was relayed via a third party in contact with them. Doubtful any of the Farnes rangers have cameras, not seen any evidence of that on several trips out. They’re almost all ecology/consv students not ‘birders’.

There's the answer then. Until someone can verify Bridled presence in the area, my money is on the Sooty being the bird. Just imagine Bridled Tern and Sooty Tern arriving not only same day but the same afternoon in the same locality.

This suggests an overlap in times: bsky.app/profile/sara...

Sooty tern on Coquet Island and Bridled Tern on Inner Farne! Quite a fun discussion as we tried to work out if we'd mis-ID'd or the Farnes had, only for them to get eyes back on theirs while we were looking at ours! #BirdingNE
