Douthat is like many "ex Republicans" (cough, cough) who pine for the party of McCain and Romney. Trump destroyed that and they resent him for it, BUT he's still "unwokifying" everything, which satisfies their hatred of anything they consider liberal. He and David Brooks are so tediously annoying.
