Rend is derived from Quenya. Tolkein wrote of a dialect called Hwendi, so I started with that qu to hw sound change and further mutated it to the “French/German R” (voiced uvular fricative). A full consonant shift law developed, partly influenced by Grimms Law, then a vowel shift also #conlang
