Yeah this is an issue that goes back 100 years. Canada has always been a target for espionage because we’re seen as an easy way to get whatever it is they want from the US, and we’ve never fixed it.
The main problem now though is that the US is weaker and antagonistic towards Canada so there is an additional angle to exploit while we are busy dealing with them / the mutual defense theoretically weakened
