In 1988 my Communications, Technology , and Society professor assigned Neuromancer, then invited in a guest speaker from A&TT who told us one day we'd be watching TV through the phone lines. I would say I was prepared. Thanks.
That illustrates how hard it is to be prescient these days. I could list a dozen things Neuromancer predicted that actually came into existence, but the timeline is so compressed, it's easy to miss they weren't there when the book was written.
