There are so many no-good, terribly bad, wrong, AI-generated anatomical diagrams out there. Here's one I found on the website of an actual clinic in Minnesota. Yikes. Be careful out there.

"Doctor, I think I broke my clorcavcular...I don't know the rest, sorry!" "HAHA! Don't worry, that's why I do all this years studying human bovdyvcullar system with the great Dr. Zoidberg! So, where your stuvmac muscle in you?"

The posterior bicep is useful for backstroke swimmers

It's the Center for Specialty Care. The "specialty" is pointing at your upper arm and chanting "subscapularis" over and over again.

I’m a historian who knows naff all about anatomy but even I can look at that and spot errors

The amount of wtf going on here is just staggering

I especially do not like the way the pectoralis major bone passes through a tendon.

I’m really glad our shoulders are not actually attached to our ribs.

So many deltoids!

I can get better anatomy off machines at the gym, and that’s a sad thing.

Omg

And I’m just a guy who used to go to the gym…

Doctor! I think this shoulder has an optic nerve!

That is so awful……I am glad you commented on it and I hope that it makes everyone check their website information.

I left the clinic a Google review.

🤬🤬🤬

We're doomed!

Artificial intelligence will destroy humanity

It's very old knowledge that AI is a good aid for people who have expertise themselves to help with boring things, and dangerous for others. And that it really sucks at drawing maps and diagrams

Holy shit lol

wow the clavicle is also the pectoralis major? the humerus is also the deltoid? move aside skeletal muscle, we have skeleton muscles now

I know people have different levels of visual literacy but I truly do not understand how topic experts generate or pass on something like this and think “Yep, good enough”. (Currently dealing with something like this in my field).

😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

Perhaps it’s the “after” shot from one of their procedures.

Oh god those are awful. Whyyy?

Blimey

Hate hate hate them. Every day there is more of this trash being shared by so called educators or health care professionals on LinkedIn. I despair

Yikes!

The worst part is at a passing glance someone who knows nothing about anatomy could believe this is accurate. I would be among those people until I saw the bone being labeled “deltoid”

My shoulder anatomy was a long time ago. Even I can tell that’s VERY inaccurate

Even my rusty Anatomy skills are gobsmacked at the inaccuracy!

Screams so loudly to me, “Keep away! Keep away!” Accidental aposematic signaling. Also: Is that a baseball in the shoulder?

That is the coracoclavcular ligament, of course. It is also the glenoid foisa, coracoallavcular ligament and the glenoid foisa and the LeMer tuberosities, in which the M is a squiggle and not an actual letter.

Ответ для Zen Faulkes

Yes because it’s a ball-and- something-something joint

my friends’ nursing program just had to replace their very expensive textbooks because they were full of incorrect ai diagrams like this 🥴

Oh geez that’s scary

yeesh, that is BAD

They seem to use a lot of AI images in their blog posts. Yikes on their credibility as experts.

Ответ для Antijen

Oh dear 🤦🏻‍♀️ this makes three (so far)

Ouch. At least I have a paper copy of a gray's anatomy textbook. I'm highly skeptical of any medical information I find through online searches now.

Ответ для I see your true colors

Yeah, I think I’m going back to books as my preferred research source 🫠 Specifically books published before 2022

Unsure how to do bicep curls.

Sjeesus.

Thank you for the annotations. Isn’t there supposed to be a sternum? Are the ribs supposed to be that close to the shoulder? My understanding of anatomy is limited.

LOL “see me after class”

It's also the second visual result in Google's AI Overview when you search for "shoulder anatomy".

From a diagram drawn by a human! Frank Henry Netter (25 April 1906 – 17 September 1991) was an American surgeon and medical illustrator. The first edition of his Atlas of Human Anatomy was published in 1989; a fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine, where he was first published in 1957.

There is another one from the same Clinic !

Ответ для Richard

Is this a circular bone covering part of the chest with muscles running through it? 🫣

Ответ для Richard

👀 Did you find it using a Google search or browsing their website?

Le?er tuberosites here.

💀💀💀

This is like a choose your own adventure story of the "shoulder"

Wow, the deltoid is a bone, a muscle *and* a tendon!

Ответ для Janet

Whe knoew the clavicle is also the pectoralis major!

Ответ для Janet

Me, sobbing: you can't just call everything you see a deltoid, that's a muscle AI, pointing at the humerus: deltoid

I can't believe they left out the lesser trapezic fintibula.

Am ashamed to admit my gym aaa self took too long to notice the bad labels.

I am a high school dropout with a rural Indiana education and i can already spot an obvious problem at a glance. How did medical professionals let this get past them?? This is why i don't trust doctors in the US lol

I'm no doctor, just a humble gym rat, but even I realise that the deltoid is not a chest muscle... or a bone in the arm.

the fucking? Leᛖer tuberosites??? 😩

i wonder if they check their instagram DMs

(Zooms in to see if I, a soils/ geochem geek, can spot anything.) Holy hand grenade of Antioch even *I* know all that is wrong!

“Center for specialty care” indeed

👏👏👏

We've seen what they do with maps of RI/Narragansett Bay, so bad anatomical diagrams don't surprise me at all.
