Here is bit of historical background. - City Council Task Force Appointed to create a Comprehensive Bike Plan 1969 (adopted in 1974) - Bike Study Group around 1998 - 2008 initially created to update the 1974 plan - Bike/Walk Alexandria 2008-2011 - BPAC 2011-Present

- The 1974 Plan was called "Report on Bicycle Lanes and Storage Facilities". There was an earlier report in 1973 a "Master Bikeway Plan". - The 1998 plan was called "Bicycle Transportation and Multi-use Trail Master Plan for Alexandria, Virginia work began in 1992.

- The 2008 plan was called "Pedestrian and Bicycle Mobility Plan. The Pedestrian & Bicycle Citizens Group and BikeWalk Alexandria were part of the stakeholders group. Of note, the project manager was Yon Lambert. assessment.walkfriendly.org/fileupload/F...
