Really excellent and thoughtful piece. Thanks for it. It brings a lot of clarity to some really messy online behaviors, not to mention the sloppy utterances of people who should (and probably do) know better than what they publish.

It’s interesting how often I hear from people who both say Lenin and Mao were based but also don’t read theory - their politics is taken from tiktoks or tumblr memes. Like yes, Mao did kill landlords. He also killed millions of other people too
