In this particular region, dependent as it has long been on car culture (& I’m sympathetic to whoever recently pointed out that “car cult” is more accurate), we seem hell-bent on self-immolation. Horrifying, enraging, anguish-producing. Far far far too few efforts to counter it at any level.
