APPLEBAUM: War in Ukraine is not about territory. When Putin invaded Ukraine, he had at least 2 other motives. First, to assure his own place in history by rebuilding Soviet or Russian Empire. Second, to prevent democratization of Russia from following the same path as Ukraine.
