The Blitzkrieg worked the same in all directions at the start of WWII. Even Brits sucked at fighting it, as vaguely depicted in the glorious Nolan's movie Dunkirk. The reason the Nazis eventually failed was because they got greedy and made a lot of arrogant mistakes, plus failure to adapt logistics.
