I kinda think it's bad that they are doing a console only release first and consoles cost as much as a gaming PC did 4 years ago
seems like a flawed strategy
especially for a game that gets most of its sales on microsoft environments in a generation with 0 xbox sold
it will do well in playstation in america and europe, but about a third of all ps5s were sold in japan, and the lifetime sales for gta there are abysmal comparatively.
I mean it’s been decades of fans talking about sales and box office of their favorite things as fandom discourse in industry sales terms but the weird “GTA MUST MAKE 8.3 BILLION DOLLARS” thing is weird bc it’s talked about in almost rapturous terms of existential threat ?
It’s gotten this sheer level of alien importance in part because the major tentpoles of what makes a gaming blockbuster have been upended or disintegrated entirely and if it doesn’t do well there’s this concern that investment will leave the industry because it already has in many ways.
