Yes; the extent to which cars are better in every objective way than 40--or 30--years ago is hard to overstate. Faster, more efficient, MUCH safer, roomier, and even slightly cheaper model-to-model, especially given how much more equipment is just de rigeur (A/C, ABS, power everything, cruise, etc).
