A male doctor helped me with mine. I said "I think I may have endometriosis" and laid out what was happening with me, and he said "I think you do too" and referred me straight away.
My first GP (in my late teens) was so dismissive that I didn't bring up the subject with new GPs in the following years, despite pain and heavy periods. It wasn't until the situation became unmanageable in my early 30s that I tried again, and *that* GP put me on the right path to surgery.
