I don't really have a specific book, but John Steinbach should be required reading IMO. East of Eden, Grapes of Wrath, & My Personal Favorite-Tortilla Flat. Also, Travels with Charley: In Search of America" was the work of mostly fiction and anything to the contrary is wrong.
