The medication I needed fr my severe, progressive, condition was received last night. I can't tell you how much threatening to escalate to the State or the DOL (depending on if the insurance is self-funded (DOL) or not (State)) works. They expect you to give up. Fight.

I can't go into details, mostly because I suspect the plan I have has levers most plans (even self-hosted ones) do not. And you can't use what you don't have. AND I suspect that the levers I did have are not common even in self-hosted plans and are unique for the company leveraging the ins. co.

Just that you don't have to accept an absurd denial. You have the right to appeal. You have the right to a grievance. You have the right to escalate to the State or Fed. But you need facts, and you need to challenge them on policy and duty of care.
