At the population level it's ridiculous. A fraction of a percent with so many leading zeros and they're busy making laws to prevent *quick maths* 2200 Americans 672 Brits Etc. from potentially making a decision about their healthcare they'll regret

The above numbers assume every person who doesn't identify with their assigned gender goes on to have hormone treatment and that the estimated 0.22% then detransition, and that all of them consider their transition to be a mistake that they should have been prevented from making 🤯

It’s not a perfect analog, but this is roughly in line with this meta analysis on regret rates that found like 34 cases of “serious regret” in just under 8000 patients who had received surgical intervention. Even there the find was that a significant portion of regrets were social.

With all the studies that have been done that proves the fascist narrative about trans people are all lies the D party would have a lot of medical science they need to debunk the lies. But then D's could be aggressively supporting equal equity in civil rights/society for all citizens and person's.

Using not just the cissexist phrase “birth sex” but even more outrageously “re-identification with their birth sex” which I’m not sure I’ve ever seen in a pro-trans outlet? This misrepresents the very basis of transness because it’s cis people who identify us with our so-called ‘birth sex,’ not us.

And, I mean, you’re literally called *Assigned Media* so I have to wonder what you imagine you’re doing in using phrases like ‘birth sex’ without any interrogation. Is it just that ‘assigned sex’ was the fashionable term when the name was selected and now ‘birth sex’ is in (because transphobia)?

Indeed. Which is why it’s so frustrating to see people who are ostensibly trans allies and even (as in this case) trans people themselves thoughtlessly adopt this language just because it’s gaining currency in the present regressive political moment.

Honestly I didn't even think about that because my brain just auto filled this to say "birth assigned sex" which ya know... is language that's both actually accurate and not microaggressive against both trans AND intersex people.
