🧵 1/4 In my GenX youth I was passionate about politics because I viewed it as a competition in the marketplace of ideas. My activism was fueled by a patriotic idealism to forge "a more perfect union" and to paraphrase MLK, bend the arc of history toward justice. That idealistic fire still burns.
