every single nintendo direct is written like its advertising the first video game ever made. in this “game of strategy” you can choose to attack with swords [8 second clip of a guy attacking with a sword] or with spells [8 second clip of a guy attacking with a spell]

i really like going this depth about FE like this cause the core mechanics of these games barely change from game to game and if ur interested in FE youve already played one

like if you're watching this ur already deep in the fire emblem sauce. or you played 3H. 3H sold like 50 million copies. be serious nintendo

i thought this direct was actually solid for me who hasnt been following much of the game's teases or new info drops but i knew going in that half of it would be "How 2 Play Fire Emblem" and its so funny that they keep putting in these fucking tutorials in the middle of presentations

"When you fight an enemy hydra, you may want to get up on its back. This will allow you to attack without the risk of an enemy counterattack."

But look! He’s riding an ostrich!

Is a dude swinging a sword on bird-back not thrilling enough for you!?

im asleep

The trick of this is that the out loud part is for the babies and dullards and the people who know FE get an entirely different John Hinckley Jr-type message (we put Chocobos in this one)

to be clear i’m not saying it’s weird nintendo makes games for kids or explains them clearly and slowly im saying specifically it’s weird they do that in the big showcase trailer meant to convince you to buy them

are kids tuning into the fortune's weave direct is my question

I don’t know what age you would classify as a kid. I was watching directs via my 3DS in middle school.

I don't want to presume you were only tuning into the general Directs but I think seeking out a game-specific direct means you already have some interest

Isn't that how it goes? I was interested in Mario, Zelda and Pokémon as a kid and started to check Nintendo news/events and gradually got interested and became a fan of their other games like Fire Emblem. Not disagreeing it's mostly for adults, but I can imagine some kids and teens watching these.

Yeah. My nieces and nephews watch all the directs that pop up in Nintendo today on their switches

they gotta explain it because the naming is so confusing. Why does the guy I need to attack from a distance have 'close-up attacks'? The should call him a 'stay-away guy' so I know

Especially when, like... Neither the kids who have never played a video game ever nor their parents that want to buy them a new toy are the ones watching a 20 minute presentation about a single game. They're not even aware of that Direct.

it drives me nuts that they use similar wording and inflection for Rated T Blood And Guts games as they do with Rated E Googoo Gaga Babies games. like who is their target audience here lol

Ответ для headfallsoff

I think it's to help the kids understand what's going on so they'll ask their parents to buy it. I remember the toy commercials I watched as a kid had a similar cadence, just with a lot more WhoooaAAaaA and camera shake because they had to pretend an immovable object was exciting

Ответ для headfallsoff

They expect the adults to buy them anyway They need to hook the kids who wander

what game is this. i like the graphics

thanku, but darn you need the switch 2 for it

"Hrm... swords beat spears, but spears beat axes... this calls for some sort of Triangle Strategy" [GARBLED SNATCH OF THEME SONG] [SQUARE ENIX LOGO] [NINTENDO LOGO] [NINTENDO MARK OF QUALITY]

Looks like they're advertising the game by showing actual gameplay. Took 40 years but the industry got there

why does the narrator guy in this sound like he’s in an official tutorial for setting the timer on my washing machine
