A panel I was on at the Celsius festival got an audience question along the lines of “there’s so much romantasy around now, what about the men?” and my response was basically “men can write romantasy.” It turns out this was not actually the issue, but still. Nobody’s stopping them!
John ScalziWell, literature (as art and commerce) did a very good job expanding both who are writers and who are readers, and so dudes (especially straight white ones) compete in an industry where they are a market segment but not necessarily *the primary* market segment, and that fact freaks some of them out.
