Eu vi q a Diva faleceu, infelizmente

at the very end, the old man looks to his left with so much emotion to signal that "this is it"... I just burst out big fat ghibli tears instantly.

This is my all-time favorite piece of voice acting! I've never seen this BTS clip of it, thank you for posting it :))))

he doesn't just laugh, he is visibly overcome with emotion. this is a beautiful moment.

I love this moment SO so much. Akihiro is incredible.

I love to see Miyazaki so happy, I know that dude's under a lot of stress. What a great performance. I remember seeing this clip a couple of years ago, I can't remember why it came up, but I was blown away then too. A loss to all, RIP

I think the reason this hits so hard, is because it is so obvious that this movie is made with an exact vision in mind- there is intention and purpose in every choice being made. Almost every movie right now is sabotaged by corporation meddling that there is no distinct identity left in anything

Couldn’t agree more! Many western animated shows and movies are ruined by way too many notes and retakes. Overworking bits of the story or designs unnecessarily to make it more appealing for the age group or larger audience –or investors. Artistic purpose and freedom is lost from the get go.

Movie by shareholder vote instead of directors vision

I fucking love art

Goosebumps

The tiny smirk he gives when she does the laugh? Amazing. Perfection.

He* Survivor of the Nagasaki bombing, passed away 8 days ago. :(

I LOVE how the last laugh transitions into talking with a sarcastic tone!

A legend is gone

Akihiro Miwa turns 91 this coming May. One of few left alive who were present for the bombing of Nagasaki, and a true talent and wonderful person.

Sadly, Miwa passed away on the 20th of June.

That is such a beautiful response. He looks like he just experienced something supernatural.

only time I think I've ever seen that man smile so much. I'm so used to seeing him with a serious face and a cigarette. Miwa's performance really does bring that out in people, though.

We'd never get this kind of beautiful bts moment with crappy AI voices

"Well, you see... I needed different takes, so I hit the retry button until it sounded passable."

Love this clip 😃

Last time Miyazaki smiled in 25 years.

I really need to watch the original dub of this movie. Honestly though I love Moro’s laugh in English too
