Sure, but that's just arguing back my point that there's no distinction between the two activities. They're both speech. You just favor one and not the other.
If your point is that money = speech I do disagree. We should have strict limits on political spending and the Citizens United ruling was a disaster for American democracy. Pragmatically, I also separately think Third Way's ideas are both bad and unpopular.
It seems intuitive to me that spending is speech, but also if Third Way's ideas are bad and unpopular, you should be pleased your enemies are wasting their money in such a way I'd think
