One thing that's really evident about the pied-a-tierre tax: it was a brilliant move to call it that — everyone who argues against it sounds like they're defending tax-free caviar. Contrast to San Diego's "empty homes tax" ballot measure which lost 55-45 in a 70-30 Dem city.
