I was just reading Huey Newton’s essay about gay liberation from 1970 and he spends a lot of it emphasizing that sorry, if you want to stand in solidarity with gay people, even if that involves concrete actions, you do still have to stop saying the f-slur

The response of some left leaning people, particularly pundits, to the reelection of Donald Trump that to meet the moment means you gotta get super edgy and start saying slurs feels, at best, like hearing your middle school teacher trying to use youth slang and at worst like cargo cult behavior
