The UK sadly is not a safe place to host world pride. Genuinely- Our transphobia is ruining our reputation internationally and makes it impossible to fix the harms of brexit. London is important to labour- can you just get them to stop it. We are all tired of this BS from labour.

The SC decided what parliament meant when it passed the EqA 2010. So AFAIUI, the govt can't just "quash" the judgment. But it *can* change the law. In this case, there are some relatively straightforward provisions that have not been brought into effect, and the minister just needs to say yea...

Courts do not make laws, governments make laws, they could quash that ruling but they choose not to because they are pandering to a tiny vocal minority of bigots that have the ear of the right wing media and lots of money As always if you want to find out why something is happening follow the money

They cannot. In law, HM government is subordinate to the Supreme Court. Else the government can be held in contempt of court. Otherwise the PM would be an elected dictator.

The Guidance comes from a government agency, the transphobic leader of which was appointed by this government. Moreover the SC judgment can be set aside by an amendment to the Equality Act, which this government has refused to do. The problem is the government, not the courts.

For clarity, as a liberal I disagree with the UK Supreme Court ruling on 16 April 2025 in For Women Scotland Ltd v The Scottish Ministers. To which government agency do you refer? EHRC isn’t a branch of government. www.equalityhumanrights.com/our-work/uk-...
