It's amazing how many posts and stories like this you see. E-bikes are revolutionizing transportation, enabling people to go more places without cars, and there's an all-out assault to kill them.

I would think the e-cargo bikes would be just the thing for in-town deliveries. Ok, not furniture, maybe. But certainly messages and parcels.

Lots of cargo bikes could handle smaller tables and chairs!

I just went looking for a picture of someone lugging large stuff on their bike and now I know (a) there are several bicycle-pianos in the world and (b) Amazon, DHL, and UPS have bike delivery vehicles in several countries already It’s possible!

That's what I find frustrating. Instead of adapting infrastructure to meet this demand our leaders are demonizing e-bikes.

What I find interesting about e-bikes is the market disrupters. The traditional bicycle companies still haven’t really improved on what newcomers like DJI have done with Amflow. It’s still a relatively new concept, in 10 years the weight difference to a normal bicycle could be less than 10%. 😎

As someone who relied almost entirely on transit before ebiking it opens up so many options that transit didn’t cover well. places that seemed really far because lacked direct transit route are super easy to get to.

Exactly! They're so effective at filling those gaps. And also they allow more flexibility.

Bread and Rosie

Once you get bums on saddles, ebikes make the case for themselves. And if the owners of those bums can imagine themselves using it, they tend to be much more open to/keen on safe infrastructure to ride them on. Anyone who wants to defend car dependency has got to keep bums off saddles.
