I have no idea if this is what's going on or not but the results tonight are all consistent with my broad belief that Democratic primary voters are scared to death of losing again and as much as they like left/progressive ideas they are fucking terrified of losing again

Been reading for 30-35 years that “US voters in general support progressive ideas, just not at the ballot box.”

US voters generally speaking have between very and pretty progressive beliefs on economic majoritarianism and between pretty to very conservative beliefs on a bunch of other issues (immigration, crime, guns)

degens seem to be on the same page here, if this is the story it's bad news for Hong, who is clearly a much less accomplished politician than El Sayed

Kalshi is not a reliable source

More milquetoast dems will surely win more elections. It's worked so well in the past.

You'd think after years of electing moderates that just constantly preemptive surrender, they'd learn that there are multiple ways to lose and some are worse than others.

meh and nah

When it comes to whether we can ever have nice things, there are many sets of fingerprints on that murder weapon

They've had a taste of barbarism, now they go running to socialism. About fucking time.

Think it's less complicated age curve thing. Idk the data, but the older folks here are left ideas curious but haven't quite made the leap to support candidates unlike like the under 40s but vote more esp in primaries so makes sense it'd be close. Candidates matter too.

Also they may like left/progressive ideas but not think they’re achievable in the near-term. So they may support Medicare for All, but if you’ve got a candidate saying Medicare for All or bust, you may vote for the other guy/gal for progress over perfection (no idea if that applies in MI)

Well it also makes me thing that 1) fears about electability are being preyed upon by campaigns and PACs using junk polls to try and convince voters/donors that their person is the only electable one but 2) that only gets you so far; and 3) we’re going to see a lot of junk polls in summer 2027.

there's lots of non-junk polling that has been pretty worrying for left candidates I think it's not a good idea to reject the evidence we've got, it would be better for people to take seriously the concerns swing voters have with ideological candidates and how to manage them

Hong faceplanting in media hits down the stretch in WI will make next week must see TV. I’m progressive and scared and looking very strongly at Crowley.

yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh I hate it but I think at this point I'd say fuck it and vote for the weird shitty mod

Ответ для Hands Red Like Elmo

Voting for Kelda Roys, not because she can win the primary, but because I’m not sure there’s an electability difference between Crowley and Hong and they’re both really annoying me with their continued missteps.

No, Abdul is just an asshole

I have no idea why you’d say something so silly [checks Sabato Crystal Ball ratings for the 27th time today, shits pants] when I just want to vote my values [looks at Polymarket betting odds, takes extra dose of Ambien]

actual lol

have they tried inviting a cheney to campaign for them?

I can’t understand why Americans like socialist ideas that are proposed but hate socialism? Like what is that?

the stuff that is dangerous in the general election is mostly not medicare for all it's mostly defund the police and such

This strikes me as extremely plausible

Voters overwhelmingly disapprove of congress but approve of their congressperson. Very real chance they just want everybody else to vote differently.

Which is a recipe for the end of American democracy. Fear and over caution led to Biden and Kamala, ie the return of Trump and the most existential threat to the continuation of our fundamental freedoms. Put on your big boy pants — we don’t get out of this mess via half steps and navel gazing
