You're right about tidal - always gets pushed into the long grass due to build cost and time, as v few Govts looks beyond their 5yr time horizon. Govt did compel Energyco's to fit cheaper insulation, but the schemes were allowed to self-certify and so fiddled..

Sadly build time & cost of tidal is the main reason it's not coming to fruition yet. I personally hope it works. With some of the highest tidal changes, it could provide a lot if power.

Yes, 2nd highest in the World off our West coast. Only a couple of pilot schemes in operation. Great pity - much more consistent than wind. Last survey c.15 yrs ago estimated a Severn barrage wd provide c.8% of the country's electricity but wdn't help with the carbon budget by 2020. Short-termism..
