Repeated requests for an independence referendum are clearly not enough. The SNP and Scottish Greens asked for our votes on pro-independence manifestos. So now the question must be asked: Do they have a clear plan and strategy to turn that mandate into progress towards independence? 𝗬𝗘𝗦 𝗼𝗿 𝗡𝗢?

Votes earned on the back of manifestos count for far more than zilch. No party should be allowed to hide behind promises it either can't deliver or has no intention of delivering.

I can't remember that being mentioned in their manifestos.

Then let's see the gloves come off. I hope that's what happens, but I'm not holding my breath.

There have been 3 formal requests for a 2nd independence referendum, which is more than I would have wanted. Other than that ... 🤷‍♂️ After the 1st refusal, we should have taken the opportunity to consider alternative ways of advancing Scotland’s interests rather than continuing down the same path.

Come on SNP and Scottish Greens. You both asked for our votes on manifestos that promised a second independence referendum. Together, you hold the biggest pro-independence majority in Holyrood's history. It's time to turn that mandate into action. It's time to deliver.

I’m not anti-SNP, but we need something new. We need to move beyond simply saying “Westminster bad” and set out a clear plan for how we get there.

Pay more attention to what? Serious question, because, apart from asking for a referendum, I haven’t seen much in recent years from the SNP about a clear route to independence - only repeated arguments about why we should have it.

It never ceases to amaze me how Westminster parties can suddenly find tens of billions for projects aimed at extracting Scotland’s resources, yet struggle to find a single bean for long-term investment in Scotland itself. How very strange 🤔

No one, it seems. Plenty of people in Scotland want to see it stopped, but without political leadership and meaningful action we’re an open border, with the raiders and plunderers free to take advantage of Scotland’s resources and opportunities.

This will continue as long as the Scottish Government, having seen eight UK Prime Ministers come and go, continues to sit back & allow Scotland’s voice to be ignored. People in Scotland can demand change but without political action & leadership, our ability to choose a different path is limited.

If the SNP don’t hit the ground running after the summer recess with a clear plan, they risk paying the price at next year’s council elections. Voters are frustrated and low turnout could hurt them badly. Frankly, that would be of their own making. Enough is enough. The time for action is now.
