Three years ago, EPA proposed cybersecurity rules for municipal water systems. Republicans sued to prevent the rules from going into effect, and that was the end of that. Now seven states' water systems are under attack by Iran.
Still building up the whole page, but the Most Popular on Bluesky column now lets you filter by quote skeets and links. Truly the only news source for 38-year-olds and their natural foes (everyone else). newsfor38yearolds.com
Ladder-Pulling is a time-honored 2nd, 3rd, and 4th+ generation passion for US immigrants for 200 years. It's a reaction to being othered by the people who came a few generations earlier. We have Latino ladder-puller ICE agents because immigration since 1968 has been largely Latino.
Piet Mondrian’s early works were landscapes in the Hague School tradition: broadly naturalistic scenes of the Dutch countryside, characterised by their subdued colour and muted light. He liked to paint windmills on and near the Gein, a small waterway outside Amsterdam.
I'll phrase it this way: Kubrick could have made Oppenheimer and chose not to. Nolan will never make anything like Dr. Strangelove. Nolan adapted The Prestige and Batman comics; Kubrick adapted Nabokov and Thackeray and Anthony Burgess. I like Nolan's work a lot, but be real.
Dan SchkadeListen, strokes/folks etc, but "Batman Begins > Barry Lyndon" should trigger a wellness check
On this day 3 years ago a man sent up a call for aid and his neighbors answered, giving us the greatest video of the decade. Happy Chairteenth to all who celebrate.
this is clickbait garbage a) it wasn't ~dronez~ stuff, it was the same vanilla GPS jamming that has occurred at WSMR for decades b) a crew should *absolutely* be capable of conducting a nonprecision approach to an ILS, *ESPECIALLY* if there's a NOTAM out for PNT jamming
Katie DrummondA routine medical flight, on a clear night, ended with a plane crash that killed all four people onboard. Investigators say it's the first known US civilian plane crash tied to electronic warfare. This won't be the last story of its kind. A must-read from @jeffwise.bsky.social for @wired.com
Easiest way to see this is US commercial inventories. Low, especially compared to the last 10y, but very much not apocalyptic.
Nikolas GvosdevThis also speaks to commodities traders having Ali Baba caves of supplies … follow the use of tankers as floating storage … www.bloomberg.com/opinion/arti...
These people are mad at Dr. Fauci because he told them to wear a mask during a deadly pandemic.
this is not true. there was no conspiracy. it didn't matter whether the streetcars were publicly owned (seattle, detroit) or private (los angeles, atlanta). a thread (because i wrote a whole-ass book on this): 1/?
David HoIs everyone aware of the General Motors streetcar conspiracy? In the mid-20th century, auto and oil interests bought up electric streetcar systems across the US and systematically replaced them with bus routes and paved roads, funneling commuters toward private cars.
stripping OMB of the ability to dole out grants is an enormous win, this nukes the SAVE act, it prohibits further ICE bailouts, adding a "no, really, trump can't break already on-the-books laws regarding elections the federal government doesn't run" clause would be both unnecessary and unproductive
Murshed ZaheedPatty Murray and Chuck Schumer decide to strike a “bipartisan” deal with … checks notes … Susan Collins to fund the Trump regime through December which appears to not to any include any safeguards against Trump’s meddling with midterm elections.
One of my favorite students last year was a COVID orphan, sir. She's one of several I've had. I can't count the ones who lost just one parent. Maybe, just maybe, the closures aren't the things that fucked up the kids.
Lewis GoodallThere are working class and vulnerable kids who will never have the life they should have had because of school closures. Let’s address that too, shall we?
Let's remember some Baseball Injuries! I'll go first: Glenallen Hill having a nightmare about spiders that was so bad he fell out of bed and through a glass table
Amanda MullMLB players are the thoroughbred horses of the human world in that if you take your eye off them for a second they will get loose and find some completely novel Looney Tunes way to suffer a catastrophic injury

Among many other things this is a good illustration of the necessity of untethering ideology and "fight" in intra-Democratic battles. The party is very united on fight, very divided on ideology. You unite on fight, let different constituencies/states find their center of gravity on ideology.
Trump and Musk promised to shrink the deficit. Instead, it's projected to grow — to $2.5 trillion a year within a decade (in today's dollars). That's a heavier burden for taxpayers, and it pushes up interest rates on credit cards, mortgages and beyond. My @morningjoe-msnow.bsky.social Chart
I am begging wealthy people affected by various new taxes to continue posting about the specific ways they are affected by them. Get really detailed about it too. Trust me it’s going to win lots of people over to your side
