Not saying you are doing this! But in my experience lawyers have a hard time decentering their own importance and so we need to be careful in celebrating that importance when we talk to lawyers.

This is true. But the question, as always, is one of emphasis. If lawyers emphasize courts over politics, that aggrandizes a certain idea of "legal" work. The point of emphasizing organizing is to center political power, not to deny the value of every strategy (including legal/court strategies).

Really disagree with this. This would suggest that the best way to get "good" grades is to strategically choose classes where you will be at the top of the distribution. Grades should reflect the quality of the work. Which has only a passing relationship to comparison.

This is both self-evidently right, and also incomplete. The truth is that the reconstruction amendments were moderate in the context of their politics of reconstruction. (Much like how the Civil Rights Act was moderate in the context of the politics of the 2nd Reconstruction).
