Voted down multiple times by Va Beach voters The nearest train-accessible beach is Atlantic City which is probably a quicker train ride than Va Beach any way. Not much surf though. The next nearest is probably Asbury Park, but you have to ride all the way up to Newark first, I think.

That's a shame. It's the best ballpark I've ever seen a game at and you can say with total sincerity it's the best thing about Pittsburgh. Everything that is great about Pittsburgh can been seen from the upper deck, it's just an amazing vista.

I have considered using VRE to try out "new to me" trails like I have with MARC but I dont think there are as many options.

My only VRE experience as a cyclist is Tour de VRE and it was GREAT yurasko.net/wfy/2025/10/... @sarahbagley.bsky.social got some DASH shuttles set up too

There was light rain at the beginning and end of the ride. C&O towpath has lots of tall trees so overall fairly shady and not too bad rain. I might not have minded a downpour, i sweat through my clothes quickly
