Apparently as long as the infringed work was registered in the US copyright office before 2022, foreign authors do qualify. I have seen various Canadian and British authors mention they were included. If the 65 usd for post pub registration is expensive, I think a crowdfund is a good option.

True, but there has been discussion of furure lawsuits especially international prior registered works. Backlists registered will have some protection starting the day they register, any theft after it will get some protection. We also don't know if tomorrow laws will expand creator rights.

I think authors should start kickstarters to fund registries for backlists. If 10 people donated 6.5 USD, it would fund the registry of 1 prior published book. You can register 10 unpublished works for 85 and 20 published drawings also for 85 USD.

And for odd reasons, trad ups the price of ebooks over physical. Probably another reason I eead more indie because of lack of space to store em.

Good read. One thing that has slightly affected me is that the USD has weakened around 20% from the Peso a few months ago. Editing and buying pro covers is now cheaper at the crosshaird my royalties are diminished. I also notice Americans have less buying power, which makes increases a gamble.

One new rule of the program is a min 25 review requirement for comps. You need 3 comps and the new limit makes things especially hard for me because my books tend to be niche. If crossposting is daunting, sending your goodreads reviews is pretty quick with a few clicks.

Lots of authors don't take advantage of the free Librarything arc program. It has helped Together is a distant star get 4 reviews, one crossposted at goodreads. Indie authors should give it a shot the next time they have new releases.
