Oh, whew! I was afraid my story was being shown as an example of one that advances the "homelessness solved" narrative. I definitely don't think that, whether based on the 2026 data, or based on ... like, living here.
I mean, I can only include so much in a headline. Rural homelessness is also getting worse, along with the age distribution you quoted from my story.
But after the six year trend of steep increases, even a plateau would be noteworthy.
This video started playing before I scrolled all the way down, and when I first focused on it, it was zoomed in on the pineal eye. I thought, "Wow, what a cooperative lizard to sit still for this video."
Then it zoomed back out, and I thought, "Well, I guess that's one way to make a lizard behave."
There was a pirated edition that I occasionally saw in China, with the same publicity still of Kevin Costner about to shoot the same arrow with the burning marshmallow, and in the same wanted-poster font, spelled "HORE: Prince of Thieves."
Yeah, just skipping the outros tends to prompt grumpy emails (we only omit them if the news of the day is particularly grave, but we still hear about it 😂)
I work for Axios Salt Lake, and we do have a decent level of freedom. It varies with individual editors, but the message from on high is to allow voice & perspective. Our recruiter is also VERY good, & they hire a lot of really experienced local reporters. My coworkers consistently impress me!
The river walk has been busy since we got here, with people of all ages picnicking, biking, taking photos and actually reading the interpretive signs.
I've been to trails like this that don't get used. Here the hotel has complimentary bikes, & the trail to dinner was busier than the street.
