Did you know we already use a 2-tier Proportional Representation system in the US? It's called the Democratic Presidential Primary. Tier 1 is the Congressional District, Tier 2 is the State level. Delegates are awarded by percentage of the vote. 1/

I am begging my fellow Americans to learn how parties work *literally* every where else. Candidates are not more legitimate just because they were selected via a primary. Parties regularly select candidates and then voters, in an election, tell the party if they liked them or not.

Primary elections are an integral part of ballot access in this country, with only major parties, that status in most states based on performance in the prior election, getting to utilize them /1.

Let's replace all primary elections with this method and have multiple parties instead of 2 political 'public utility' ballot lines. Just a thought.

State party should just throw the names of every Dem state legislator between the ages of 40 and 60 in a hat pick a replacement that way, the odds are better than any deliberated calculated decision they could make.
