We’re so used to seeing Hitler lampooned on TV (Doctor Who, Preacher) and in film (Inglourious Basterds, Jojo Rabbit), it’s impossible to overstate the threat he posed in 1941, or how daring this scene was. How many audience members dreamed of doing just this? #TheNoirCollective #TCMParty #ManHunt

#ManHunt is based on Geoffrey Household’s novel Rogue Male, a 1939 thriller that posed challenges in adaptation. The majority of the book is interior monologue by the narrator (who’s never named), with flashbacks to his torture and descriptions of his survival tactics. #TheNoirCollective #TCMParty

Notice the opening shots of #ManHunt… slow tracking shots, close to the ground, with wipes between them timed at the exact same speed that the camera is moving, to give the illusion of continuous movement… not unlike a hunter stealthily stalking his prey. #TheNoirCollective #TCMParty
