the alternative to this would be paying shipping costs to send the case and my right earbud to sony. they'd charge me a service fee on top of the replacement earbud price and i probably would've been out >$100 lol

@ben@mastodon.lubar.me i also _hate_ the fact that there's a touch sensitive button on the outside. when my hair is slightly damp (from swimming, or showering) it will cause all sorts of chaos like stopping my music, turning off ANC or enabling/disabling "speak to chat" which is awful.

@ben@mastodon.lubar.me if only i didn't really enjoy the form factor & anc i would try to claw back my $300 from sony for these. (stupidly bought them new despite the fact my WH-1000XM5s are amazon refurb i got for like half the price of a new one)

is it lack of data? do we know for sure this shit doesnt melt the skin off my bones after repeated exposure? why does it irritate the skin

you know, if it says straight up "melts the skin off your bones, turns you blind and kills the fish" id respect that. i do not like the "water-based potential skin irritant non toxic" shit like what does that even fucking mean

at some point ill fix the original clone board that came with it, lol right? (or use it as spare parts for the main one...)

i got the idea from a youtuber who fully restored one of these models using paint stripper, sand blasting and a bunch of other work. i never saw a follow up on how a ceramic based spray paint (aka header paint) lasts within the conditions of the lantern.

the lantern might fall under the restorative part a bit because i am paranoid about the rust on the bottom. i use it next to a chlorinated pool and sometimes it gets splashed. i worry about the metal. picked up chrome colored header paint. still debating […] [Original post on transfem.social]
