I've been thinking about Satoru Akahori a lot lately, probably more than a person should, and he might have written a dozen 90s Zany Fantasy shows but they all have a flavor to them Granted that's usually oddly placed horniness but it's a signature dammit

Like there's a difference between unoriginal and something straight up extruded from a list of tropes. Not everything can be high art but you can still appreciate an artists touch

Like there's one that opens with a silver haired blue eyed girl in a fancy uniform all like "I can't *believe* they sent an F Class. According to the rules, you listen to us" then edgy short haired girl is like "rules are meant to be broken"

The only thing less appealing than watching that stuff is interacting with it I can't even bring myself to try Persona 5 lmao

Anyway WIP

I feel like I'm coming off really negative but it's a sharp looking kit overall! It's not really softening my opinion of modern Valkyrie designs though lol It's reminding me a lot of the Kotobukiya D style kits in how many tiny parts exist solely to differentiate colors

I've got the main body done and am working on the wings and goofy weapon pods. Dropped a tiny translucent piece for the wing light I will probably rediscover embedded in the crease of my foot or something in a day or two

i could play it but eh

it stuck out in my mind because having a plastic thing you need to carry around felt like it defeated the convenience angle of a phone game lol

I’m actually partial to the Valiant Comics version where she’s got kind of a smartass streak but the old Nintendo Power Super Metroid version is pretty cool too

Ever since I found out what bullet sealing was (as much of a reputation hellsinker has for being confusing putting a big SEAL icon over enemies who can’t shoot because you’re too close is what tipped me off lol) i’ve thought it was such an interesting mechanic

Like, I’ve never run into anyone who will bring up Saber Marionette R when the series comes up. It’s just this weirdly uncomfortable thing that happened, doesn’t even *look* like the other series, and most people kind of pretend it’s not there

Can I count the MAZE OAV? The TV series isn’t exactly high art or anything but I don’t think Going Bigger and Badder including the lovable pervert actually assaulting someone but it’s okay because she liked it was the play

Rayearth OAV is up there as is the Escaflowne movie. I feel like I’m in a minority by strongly disliking Nadesico the Movie but I also know I’m not alone after the last anime rant lol
