I love that Shaggy and Fred had a fusion character. But wow I can see why he was cut he genuinely looks like a convincing edit someone made to gaslight people into thinking there was a cut character.

He kind of is. The character art is from after they cut Mike; someone just edited another guy in. We don't actually know what Mike would have looked like.

Honestly was probably a good call. Can't imagine where he'd of fit into the dynamic of the cast. Just looking at him gives off big third wheel energy haha. Was he Fred or Daphyney's brother or something?

From my understanding, the first drafts of the characters were loosely inspired by Archie Comics, so Fred=Archie, Velma=Betty, Daphne=Veronica, Shaggy & Scooby=Jughead & Hot Dog. My guess is Mike would be Reggie - the jerky guy of the group who sees Fred as a rival/has a thing for Daphne.

Originally they were all based on the Archie characters, so Mike would presumably have been the Reggie Mantle of the group.

To be fair, we don't know what Mike would have actually looked like. This image was altered to add Mike in (as a tell, Velma wasn't given glasses until well after Mike was cut). I don't think there's any art of the characters from before they reduced it to four humans.

i've read somwhere a theory that fred is in fact alone in his van. all the others are dead in a terrible car crash. he sees them as ghosts and this is why he is searching other ghosts adventures, and why nobody cares that the dog is talking;
